Driver abandoned equipment in NC ( his home location) after 3 weeks of working. He just decided to go home for holidays and never came back.

He worked nearly 6 months for us. Just few days ago we discovered that his fuel card was compromised and several other drivers that are not part of our organization in various locations was adding fuel to their tanks ($42.328.73 in fuel transactions charges). We never thought that he could be involved until all of the sudden he asked for home time and the load that was pre-planed he did not show for pickup. We told him to leave our equipment at TS and find his way home. Few minutes after he agreed on load to rerun us the equipment and that load was canceled too because he changed his mind.. He texted us that is taking rental car and removing his belongings from the truck. We checked Samsara (ELD) truck was sitting in same spot but trailer was moving. The guy removed the tracking device and stole our equipment. We filed a police report, he got stopped by police office and asked to park the truck on near TS followed by police escort. This is a first class criminal, do not give him a chance, we just learned now that he is suspect for other criminal activities and are pending charges against him.
