  1. Why not just apply for your own? There's no significant barrier to obtaining authority from the FMCSA. It typically takes about a month for it to become active.
  2. I use the Uber Freight load board quite a bit, especially for loads coming from Southern California. I like that they show rates for the next two weeks, so if I have flexibility, I can choose the cheapest day. Their customer service could use some improvement, but overall, I find it useful.
  3. Imagine you bake a cake for a party and ask a friend to deliver it for you. Your friend agrees but secretly hands it off to another person without telling you. That person ends up delivering the cake to the wrong address or mishandling it entirely. Now, the people at the party are upset, and you don’t even know who messed up. In trucking, this is like double brokering. A company agrees to move goods for another company but, instead of handling it themselves, they pass the load to a different company without permission. This creates chaos because the original shipper has no idea who is really transporting their freight. The result? Miscommunication, delays, and potentially lost or damaged goods. It’s a bad situation for everyone involved.
  4. Why would asking for a TONU in trucking be a reason to blacklist a carrier on a Do Not Use list? That makes no sense. If I send a truck for pickup and the load gets canceled, it’s not the carrier’s fault. They should at least get $150 for a TONU it’s only fair.
  5. Emerge Transportation collects all your quotes, lanes, and other data. They’ll probably end up using that info to move freight themselves. Basically, it’s a brokerage using a TMS to gather info, sell it, or steal customers.
  6. Has anyone managed a FreightGuard removal using a lawyer? We recently had an issue where a carrier delivered late, and the broker left a FreightGuard report. The broker refuses to listen, even though the carrier is usually reliable. I’m not saying the broker is bad, but they just won’t hear us out. Has anyone had success removing a FreightGuard report, either through legal help or some other method? Would love to hear your ideas.
