ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA was hired by Step One LLC as an owner -operator on 01/17/2023. He rented out from Step One LLC a brand new Kaufman trailer with VIN # 7UZFW5030PL000048 and picked it up from the Kaufman factory based in 702 N Silver St, Lexington, NC 27292 on 01/18/2023 and started to use the trailer to transport vehicles for Step One LLC . Also he received FUEL CARD # 6376351049619657 and fueled for a total amount of $3085.08 during the time he was employed by Step One LLC ( fuel reports attached ) . During the time he was employed he earned $6608.21 and got $2220 in cash advances which includes $920 he got for the trailer repair at BigTex Michigan (invoice from BigTex and proof of cash advance attached). On 01/23/2023 he damaged a 5-day old trailer by hitting a concrete block (first axle, right side of the trailer) while was parking at a Motel parking for the night and next day on 01/24/2023 he went to the BigTex dealership to fix the issue with trailer (pictures of the damage and invoice from the repair shop, also attached). The lease agreement between Step One LLC and ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA was terminated on 02/02/2023 after he was demanding money in advance for fixing his truck’s brake system that by his words , was damaged because of the trailers issue with the brakes what stopped working after he hit the concrete block on 01/23/2023. From 02/02/2023 he had the trailer at his property located at 638 Shaw Rd Fayetteville,NC 28303 until Thursday 02/16/2023 when another driver picked it up . New driver during the inspection of the trailer noticed that there was missing the aluminum ramps and a the set of 12 wheel straps and ratches that the trailer was equipped with at the time ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA picked it up from Kaufman Trailers Factory on 01/18/2023 . Also, new driver noticed that one of the tires is worn out and needs immediate replacement. When he asked Anthony what happened with the tire he reported that the axle may be bent and that may cause the excessive worn out of the tire . Regarding the missing aluminum ramps and the set of the wheel straps and ratchets , ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA said that he doesn’t know anything and they might be stollen (from the front of his house , even if he was in charge for the property of Step One LLC ) New driver went right away to Kaufman repair shop located at 893 Clarksbury Church Rd, Thomasville, NC 27360 for the repairs. At the shop was detected that the first axle of the trailer is bent and needs replacement as well as the right side wheel and tire. Besides that , Step One LLC was forced to by another pair of aluminum ramps and a set of 12 wheel straps and ratchets that was lost or stollen by ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA . The invoice for parts and labor came out to be $2447.77 and was added to ANTHONY’s last statement as he was fully responsible for the trailer and equipment that originally came with the trailer. After deductions which includes trailer rent, commercial cargo insurance, cash advances, repairs and other charges, ANTHONY FRANK LA FRAGOLA owes Step One LLC $5073.63

The driver took new truck, picked up a load, collected a cash advance, and then abandoned the truck at a truck stop. Very irresponsible and unprofessional behavior.

Mr. Mireles from southern TX was vetted and screened ready to roll.  We purchased airline tickets from southern TX to Chicago.  I welcomed him to Chicago when I found out the plane landed (no response).  I waited another 45-55mins, to get his bags together and get to Terminal #2 so I can get him an Uber to the Terminal (no answer, straight to VM).  I ended up sending him another text message 2.5hrs after his plane landed, asking him if he made the flight (no answer).  Had to go on my United App to see if I had a flight credit on my account, there it was.  He never got on the original flight.  I sent a nasty gram to him stating that "the adult thing to do was to inform us of any issues....", nothing.  Then 2hr additional hours went by and his "brother" texted me (from Manuel's phone) and stipulated that the ticket had a misspelling on his first name (Manuel vs Manual).  Which would not have hindered him from getting the ticket agent to change on the spot.  After calling United about the situation, they assured me they would have simply changed it prior to boarding, the stated "a mismatch (when a name doesn't match the ID) happens all the time, for this being a single letter - would have never been a reason to cancel the ticket".

Apparently didn't want the job, another disappointment trying to hire reliable people for our company.  Make you wonder why a Class A driver wants to driver a little box truck but it is what it is.

This Class A driver came to us with high expectations and great attitude.  He wanted to drive one of our box trucks w/sleeper (<26,000#).  He was here all day filling out all the paperwork and getting truck ready to go.  We gave him one of our 2020 trucks for a few weeks to see how he does prior to giving him one of the '26s in the yard.  Apparently he thought he rated the brand new truck and on his very first day, no call no show.

As everyone knows, there are so many things go into vetting and hiring a driver.  It pains me to write this as he had such a good personality and my recruiter talked so highly of him.  I hope that he contacts us with a reason for this abrupt turnaround.  I would love to update or remove this review, I would love to be wrong here but 11 phone calls from President to Dispatch to Safety and even the recruiter.  7 text messages, 3 emails and 2 IM through Tenstreet all went unanswered.

This driver behaved very unprofessionally. When he came to our office, he started shouting and causing trouble. The situation became disruptive enough that we had to book him a flight back just to prevent further issues. Not reliable, not professional, and not someone we would recommend working with.

This driver frequently went home and could not stay on the road for long periods due to constant personal issues at home. Because of this, he was unreliable and unable to keep consistent work.

This driver constantly argued and created unnecessary problems instead of focusing on the job. He showed little interest in actual work responsibilities and was more concerned with excuses and complaints. Unfortunately, his attitude and behavior made cooperation impossible.

The driver returned home and held the truck longer than agreed, keeping it for several days. After being contacted, he claimed that he could not find the truck anymore. This caused unnecessary delays and showed a lack of responsibility and reliability.

    Not recommended for future cooperation.
